I found this in my garden!

Sometimes I like to fan myself with kale. It's a home-grown, light-weight, off-the-grid air conditioner.

I was just outside picking some fresh kale for dinner when I realized it could be time for a garden picture. I haven't taken any yet this season! So here you go. A little taste of what's growing in my backyard. Isn't this leaf of kale beautiful? More pictures to come! What's growing in your garden?

I just saw your kale...and I'm jealous. How is yours so big? Mine won't grow longer than my fingers outstretched. All I can say is jealous!

To be honest, I have no idea, Julie! This is the first summer I've grown kale, so I didn't know what to expect. I did notice that the kale leaves got smaller the farther away they got from the sprinkler, so water is definitely a big factor. We have the sprinklers set to go on early morning for 15 minutes. Our soil seems to be super rich too, which is an added bonus to growing huge kale, so maybe some extra fertilizer would help. Thanks for commenting! Let me know if you see any growth spurts.

Anyone else have kale-growing tips?

When did you start dressing like your vegetables? The outfit you're wearing in the pic is green and kind of lacey with the holes in it. I bet if you were out harvesting, Grama wouldn't be able to see you from the kale! I want to see what else you can disguise yourself as.
